Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/26/18) The Dominican College women's soccer team fell to Molloy College on Wednesday in a non-conference game by a score of 1-0. With the win, Molloy improves their record to 2-4-1 on the season. With the loss, DC drops to 1-7-1 overall.
Angelica Contreras (Baytown, Texas) started in goal for the Chargers and made 13 saves to help keep her team in the game. Jackie Carty was the goalkeeper for the Lions and recorded one save in the win.
Dominican took nine shots in the game while the Lions took 20 shots.
The game was scoreless in the first half with the Lions taking 11 shots and Dominican recorded four. The second half continued as a back and forth scoreless tie.
The Lions took a 1-0 lead at the 67:28 mark of the game when Dana Poetzsch score the only goal of the game. Poetzsch took a pass from Jessica Mauro, who earned the assist, from inside the box for the score.
Poetzsch took eight shots total in the game to lead her team. Megan Geary (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) recorded three shots for the Chargers in the loss.
Dominican will be back in action on Saturday, September 29th when they travel to Holy Family University at 12:00 PM for a CACC conference game.
