Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/21/19) The Dominican College women's soccer team hosted the Lions of Georgian Court University in their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game of the season. The Lions defeated the Lady Chargers by a score of 3-2 to improve to 3-3 (3-0 CACC) on the season. With the loss, DC falls to 2-4 (0-1 CACC).

Lauren Buchanan (Union, N.J.) started in net for the Lady Chargers. Buchanan made five saves in the game. Alyssa Dias and Anetha Jenkins each split time in net for the Lions. 

The Lady Chargers took nine shots in the game and recorded three shots on goal. The Lions fired 18 shots and recorded eight shots on goal. 

Danielle Gillespie (New City, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the game at 4:59 to put DC up 1-0 assisted by Victoria Bonner (Kings Park, N.Y.). The Lions answered with back-to-back goals by Aliya Canfield and Krystal Hund to give the Lions a 2-1 lead. Kaitlin Lister and Anissia Fucci each assisted the goals. 

Megan Geary (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) tied the game with a goal at 35:34 which was assisted by Danai Chimedza (Dacula, Ga.) and both teams entered halftime tied 2-2. 

The game remained tied until Aliya Canfield scored her second of the game at 64:55 and Kaitlin Lister recorded her second assist of the game. The Lions held DC to two goals and held on for the 3-2 victory. 

The Lady Chargers will look to bounce back when they return to action on Wednesday, September 25th for a non-conference game against Molloy College at 7:00 PM.
