Nyack, N.Y. (10/1/19) The Dominican College women's soccer team tied conference opponent Nyack College 2-2 at Nyack High School in Nyack, N.Y.
DC was trailing 2-0 late but rallied in the last twenty minutes of the game to tie the Warriors 2-2. The game went into double overtime and neither team was able to score the game-winner. The Lady Chargers now stand with a record of 2-6-1 (0-2-1 CACC) on the season. The Warriors are now 1-5-2 (1-2-2 CACC).
The Lady Chargers offense fired 27 shots at Nyack goalkeeper Nicole Benesch. Megan Geary (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) took a team-high nine shots and recorded five on goal and scored one goal. Danai Chimedza (Dacula, Ga.) took six shots and recorded four on goal. Lauren Drake (Clifton Park, N.Y.) scored the other DC goal and took three shots, all of them were recorded on goal.
Lauren Buchannon (Union, N.J.) made five saves in the game, including one in double overtime to keep the game tied. Nicole Benesch made 13 saves for the Warriors including two in double overtime.
Zion Dewerff broke a scoreless tie late in the first half. The Warriors extended their lead when Levi Bollman scored five minutes into the second half for the 2-0 lead.
DC's comeback started at the 72:38 mark when Lauren Drake scored to cut the deficit in half. Megan Geary scored at the 85:54 mark to tie the game and send the game into overtime.
Both teams remained deadlocked at 2-2 through the first overtime and the second overtime and the game ended in a tie.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, October 5th when they travel to Goldey-Beacom College for a CACC match-up with the Lightning. The game is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
