Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/28/21) The Dominican College women's soccer team downed the visiting Warriors of Nyack College, 4-1, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played this afternoon.
With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Isabella Wysocki (Rahway, N.J.) took a shot the hit that was blocked and rebounded to the feet of Alyana Gonel (Teaneck, N.J.) who was able to find the back of the net to give DC the 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of play.
A little over two minutes later, forward Danai Chimedza (Atlanta, Ga.) put a short shot passed the Warrior keeper following the pass into the box by Gonel.
Nyack cut the lead to 2-1 at the 23:23 mark on a header goal off a free kick, but DC regained a two goal advantage as freshman Alissa Madura (Warwick, N.Y.) scored from the top of the box after the long pass by Abby Montera (New City, N.Y.).
The final score of the contest came in the 69th minute as Wysocki scored on a free kick from 19 yards out for the final 4-1 win.
Keeper Lauren Drummond (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) made six saves in 82 minutes of action, while Lynne Garofalo (Ridgefield, N.J.) came in for the final seven minutes of play.
Dominican returns to action on Friday afternoon when they host Chestnut Hill College. Game time is set for 2pm at the OMM Soccer Complex.
