WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO MERCY UNIVERSITY
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (9/6/23) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team fell in non-conference action to the Mavericks of Mercy University this afternoon in a game played at Mercy Field in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
With the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 0-3 overall early on in the 2023 season. The Mavericks earn their first win of the season to improve to 1-1-1.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stella Paton (Edinburgh, Scotland) started in goal for the Lady Chargers and recorded three saves but suffered the loss.
Kamy Anaya started in goal for the Mavericks and earned her first win of the season.
Isabella Wysocki (Rahway, N.J.) took a team-high four shots out of seven to lead the Lady Chargers. Stella Koster (Saarbruecken, Germany), Alexandra Sanchez (Yorba Linda, Calif.), and Alissa Madura (Warwick, N.Y.) each recorded one shot for Dominican.
The Mavericks got off to a quick start when Madison Rosa scored the first goal of the game just over one minute into play.
At the 24:20 mark, Mercy extended the lead to 2-0 after Angelina Ortiz scored off of the assist by teammate Kayla Camacho.
The score would remain 2-0 for the remainder of the game and the Mavericks secured the victory.
The Lady Chargers return to action this Friday when they host the Knights of Queens College for a non-conference game at 2:00 PM.
