Lakewood, N.J. (9/16/23) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team opened the CACC schedule with a 1-1 tie on the road against the Lions of Georgian Court University.
Isabella Wysocki (Rahway, N.J.) scored the tying goal in the final minute of play at the 89:44 mark to secure a point in the conference opener.
With the tie, the Lady Chargers now stand at 1-3-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play. The Lions now hold a record of 0-3-2 overall and 0-01 in the CACC.
Both teams played a scoreless first half with GCU outshooting the Lady Chargers 9-3.
In the second half, the Lady Chargers recorded 10 shots to try and get on the board and held the Lions to just four shots.
The Lions took the lead at the 74:05 mark after Ava Reardon scored the first goal of the game and teammate Abby Kennelly recorded an assist on the goal.
As time was winding down, the Lady Chargers were awarded a corner kick trailing 1-0. After the corner, the ball found its way into the box and Wysocki buried the tying goal with 16 seconds remaining at the 89:44 mark to secure the tie. Forward Stella Koster (Saarbruecken, Germany) picked up the assist on the tying goal which was her first of the season.
Goalkeeper Stella Paton (Edinburgh, Scotland) made four saves for the Lady Chargers. Wysocki also led the team in shots with five.
The Lady Chargers return to action next Tuesday when they host CACC rival Felician University for a conference match up at 12:00 PM at the Town of Haverstraw Recreational Facility.
