LADY CHARGERS FALL TO WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/7/23) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team fell in conference action to the Wildcats of Wilmington University this afternoon on Sister Mary Eileen O'Brien Field in Orangeburg, N.Y.
The Wildcats scored five unanswered goals after Dominican took an early 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats improve to 5-2-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play while the Lady Chargers fall to 3-4-2 overall and 2-1-2 in the CACC.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stella Paton (Edinburgh, Scotland) made a career high 10 saves but suffered the loss. WILMU goalkeeper Mio Nakajima recorded her fifth win in goal for the Wildcats. Arianna Myers entered late in the second half and recorded three assists for the Wildcats.
Olivia Gouldsbury (New Milford, N.J.) got the scoring started with her first goal of the season to give Dominican a 1-0 advantage just over six minutes into the game. Stella Koster (Saarbruecken, Germany) picked up her fifth assist of the season which is a team-high.
The Wildcats answered with five unanswered goals to jump out to a 5-1 lead. Manuela Restrepo scored the first two goals to tie and take the lead.
Evelyn Payne extended the lead to 3-1 later in the first half and the Wildcats took a 3-1 lead into halftime. Emilie Larsen scored both second half goals for WILMU which extended the lead to 5-1.Restrepo recorded two assists and Alyssa Ruggeri added one assist.
Bryanna Foti (Newburgh, N.Y.) ended the run in the final minute of play to make the deficit 5-2 and Sabine Sorensen (Ballerup, Denmark) picked up the assist.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Wednesday, October 11th when they travel to Post University to take on the Eagles at 2:00 PM.
