Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/14/24) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team suffered a non-conference loss to the Purple Knights of St. Michael's College this afternoon on O'Brien Field.
The Purple Knights improve to 3-0 while the Lady Chargers fall to 2-2.
Goalkeeper Juliana Anastopoulos made five saves and earned her third win of the season. Brielle Bell made her first start for the Lady Chargers and recorded seven saves.
The Purple Knights opened the game with three goals in the first half and held the 3-0 lead by halftime.
Sarah Gormley scored her second goal of the game to extend the SMC lead to 4-0 early on in the second half.
Less than a minute later, Kaitlyn Zeeb was awarded a penalty shot and connected for her second goal of the season to put Dominican on the board.
The Purple Knights later added one more goal on their way to the 5-1 victory.
The Lady Chargers will return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they open conference play as they host the University of Bridgeport at 3:30 PM on O'Brien Field.
