GREAVES PICKS UP WIN IN JAVELIN EVENT AT VASSAR INVITATIONAL

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (4/9/22)  Freshman Vanessa Greaves (Bridgetown, Barbados) won the javelin event at the Vassar Invitational held last night.

As a team, Dominican finished with a team score of 41 to finish in fifth place overall.

Top Peformances

  • Greaves won the javelin throw with a throw of 41.35m (135'8").
  • Senior Sabrina Hernandez (Stony Point, N.Y.) placed second in the shot put with a throw of 9.99m (32'9.5").  Stacy Eliezer (New City, N.Y.) finished in third place with a throw of 9.32m (30'7").
  • Eliezer also took third place in the hammer throw with a throw of 21.16m (69'5").
  • In the discus throw, Hernandez took fifth place with a throw of 26.56m (87'2").

Other Performances

  • Eliezer took sixth place in the discus event with a throw of 22.00m (72'2").
  • The 4x400m relay team of Desiree Joseph-Jarvis (Livingston, N.J.), Steffy Espejo (Tunja, Colombia), Anna Murphy (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Ann McCormack (Pearl River, N.Y.) finished in seventh place with a time of 4:32.29.
  • Joseph-Jarvis competed in the 200m dash and finished in seventh place with a time of 28.82.
  • The 800m event saw Murphy take ninth place with a time of 2:28.94 and McCormack finish in 14th place with a time of 2:36.33.
  • McCormack finished ninth in the 1500m run with a time of 5:16.39, while Espejo took 16th place with a time of 5:38.23.
  • In the hurdles, Jada Hammond (Nyack, N.Y.) took 12th place with a time of 19.14.
  • Cyan Bullock (Spring Valley, N.Y.) took 13th place in the long jump with a jump of 4.19m (13'9").
  • The 400m dash event had Nicole Kordonias (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) finished in 13th place with a time of 1:19.84.
  • Hammond took 13th place in the 100m dash with a time of 14.24, while Bullock finished in 14th place with a time of 14.38.
  • In the 200m dash Hammond finished in 15th place (30.38), Melissa Moise (Spring Valley, N.Y.) took 16th place (30.57), Krystal Parris (Toronto, Canada) finished in 18th place (31.10), Angelica Figueroa (New York, N.Y.) ran a time of 32.03 to finish in 19th place and Tatyana Ocasio (Middletown, N.Y.) took 20th place with a time of 32.25.
  • Parris also took 15th place in the 100m dash with a time of 14.61, while Ocasio finished in 16th place with a time of 14.79 and Figueroa took 17th place with a time of 14.95.  Moise had a time of 15.17 to finish in 19th place.
