Bloomfield, N.J. (10/24/14)  The Dominican College volleyball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division match to host, Bloomfield College, 3-1 this evening in a match held at the Bloomfield Gym.

With the loss, Dominican falls to 11-6 overall and 8-6 in CACC play.

DC trailed 15-14 in the first frame when the team got the side out on a kill from senior Kayla Dexter* (Selah, Wash.) After that, Dexter served five straight points to claim a 20-15 advantage.  Sophomore attacker McKenzie John (Lafayette, La.) recorded the set winning kill for the 25-21 win.

Bloomfield countered taking sets two and three by scores of 25-22 and 25-17 to take the 2-1 match victory.

In the fourth set, the Lady Chargers held a 15-11 lead but the Bears came back to tie the set at 18-18.  John produced a service ace to put DC at set point, 24-22 but BC answered with a 4-0 run to earn the 26-24 win and 3-1 match victory.

John led all attackers with 27 kills and completed the double-double with 11 digs.

Dexter finished with 11 kills and two block solos, while her sister Kera Dexter (Selah, Wash.) had a team high 26 assists and 11 digs.

Amanda Hallstein* (Holtsville, N.Y.) tallied 22 assists and nine digs.  Angela Kim (Marlton, N.J.) added nine digs in the loss.

Dominican will travel to CACC opponent, Holy Family University tomorrow afternoon.
