Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/8/16) The Georgian Court University Lions swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball match from host, Dominican College, 3-0 (15-25, 16-25, 26-28) this afternoon in a match played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/8/16) The Georgian Court University Lions swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball match from host, Dominican College, 3-0 (15-25, 16-25, 26-28) this afternoon in a match played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
GCU took the opening two sets, but the Lady Chargers began the third set with an 8-3 lead. Later ahead 17-14, the Lions rallied with five straight points to earn an 18-17 advantage. Both teams would trade points until the score was 26-all when consecutive errors would secure the 28-26 Lion win and 3-0 match victory.
Sophomore Alexa Williams (Los Angeles, Calif.) led the Lady Chargers with 10 kills and almost completed the double-double with nine digs.
Cortney Yeoman (Glenn Dale, Md.) added nine kills and a .304 attack percentage, while Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) had a team high 10 digs.
Setter Kera Dexter* (Selah, Wash.) had a team leading 24 assists in the loss.
With the loss, Dominican falls to 4-13 overall and 3-5 in CACC play.
DC will host Nyack College in a CACC North Division clash this coming Tuesday night. Match time is slated for 7pm on Coach Baxter Court.
