Wilmington, Del. (9/30/17) The Lady Chargers traveled to Goldey-Beacom College still in search of their first win of the season. Heading into their last match of the September portion of the season, the Lady Chargers were poised to earn a win on the road.
Goldey-Beacom College defeated the Lady Chargers three sets to none in the match while not allowing more than 14 points in any of the three sets. As for the Lady Chargers, there was a tie for points scored between teammates Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, NY) and Gabrielle Napoleon (Springfield, PA) who both led the team with eight points each. Knopf also led the team in kills with eight and Napoleon was right behind with six kills. Napoleon entered the match as the team leader in points and continues to keep that lead.
Natalia Perez (Prosper, Texas) led the way in digs with 12 iand continues to be top player in digs for the team with 160 on the season. Essence Boyd (Peekskill, NY) continues being on top in assists for the team with 14 more in the match giving her 195 on the season and the closest teammate to her for assists is Perez with 11.
Goldey-Beacom improves to 5-9 (4-2 CACC), and was led in points by Breanne Haley with 16.5, then Jada Canteen with 10.5, and Makinsie Balderson with 9. Haley also recorded 9 kills and 6 digs in the win while Canteen also contributed 9 kills. Balderson had 7 kills and led the team in digs with 14. Sydney Fulton led the team in assists with 19 and right behind her was teammate Olivia Florence with 14 assists.
Following the loss, the Lady Chargers will return home on Tuesday when they host Caldwell University at 7:00 PM.
