Caldwell, N.J. (9/5/18) The Lady Chargers volleyball team opened their conference portion of the 2018 season with a loss to the Cougars of Caldwell University.
The Cougars, 2-4 (1-0 CACC), defeated the Lady Chargers three sets to none to earn their second win of the season and first conference win of the season and handed the Chargers, 0-4 (0-1 CACC), their fourth loss to open the season.
The Cougars swept the Lady Chargers with consecutive 25-7 victories in the first two sets of the match and secured the win with a 25-12 win in set number three.
The Cougars used a twelve-point run in the first set to jump ahead of the Lady Chargers 1-0 in the match. In the second set, the Cougars used a 14-1 run to secure the win and take a commanding 2-0 match lead over the Lady Chargers. Dominican stuck with the Cougars for a good portion of the third set, but the Cougars eventually sealed the win.
Malia Robinson (Jersey City, N.J.) recorded five points along with five kills in the loss. Natalia Perez (Prosper, Texas) led the team in digs with 10. Lily Ainsworth (Colorado Springs, Colo.) added eight assists for the Lady Chargers.
Marina Schlaepfer and Elise Smith led the Cougars with 9.5 points each. Jordan Hoffman added 10 assists in the win. Humiko Stormer recorded 11 digs.
The Lady Chargers will travel to Millersville, Pennsylvania at the end of the week for two matches on Friday and two matches on Saturday. The Lady Chargers will open the weekend against Lock Haven on Friday at 3:00 PM and will end day one with Adelphi University at 7:00 PM.
Dominican will continue the Maurauder Clash on Saturday morning when they face West Chester University at 10:00 AM and will finish the day with Millersville University at 2:00 PM.
