Bloomfield, N.J. (11/2/22) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team suffered a conference loss to the Bears of Bloomfield College 3-1.
The Chargers won the opening set but the Bears rallied to win the next three sets and completed the 3-1 victory.
The Chargers fall to 11-15 overall and 9-8 in conference play. The Bears improve to 15-7 overall and 14-3 in the CACC.
The Bears got off to a fast start in the first set but the Chargers rallied by outscoring BC 13-6 to take the lead and complete the 25-22 win.
BC tied the match 1-1 after a back and forth battle in the second set. The Bears scored the final four points of the game to finish off the 25-18 win.
The Bears got off to a 7-1 run to start the third set and continued their strong play on their way to a 25-8 win for the 2-1 match lead.
BC outlasted the Chargers in the fourth set with a 27-25 victory and completed the 3-1 match win.
Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) led the way in kills with nine and points with 11. LaPier also finished with seven digs and two service aces. Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) added eight kills and eight points.
Abigail Thompson (Aledo, Texas) and Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) each contributed a team-high in digs with 13. Alessandra Pantoja (Lewisville, Texas) finished with a team-high 25 assists.
The Bears were led by Jaizahir Marrero who added 12 kills and 16 points. Lauryn Hansford added a match-high 27 assists while Amanda Arroyo added 16 assists.
Desiree Cruz and Karen Ramiu each added nine kills. Karla Maldonado recorded a team-high 15 digs.
Dominican returns to action this Friday when they host the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University for Senior Day at 6:00 PM.
