Orangeburg, N.Y. (6/26/14) Dominican College Director of Athletics, Joseph S. Clinton, has announced that Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Coach, Abdias Suero, will be retiring from the athletic department at the end of this month.
Suero has been the cross country and track and field coach for the past six years. He guided the cross country team to their highest finish in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships in 2010 when they finished in second place. In the six years at the helm, he finished in the top four five of the six years.
Suero was the first women's track and field coach in program history and has worked each year in increasing the number of meets the team travels to and bringing field event participiants. In 2014, the team competed in the inaugural CACC Track and Field Championships where they finished in fourth place. The team had two second place finishes in the 4x400 meter relay and the 200 meter dash and a third place finish in the javelin throw.
"The athletic department would like to thank Abdias for all of his work over the past six years," said Clinton. "He was well-liked and respected by the student-athletes and staff and we wish him well as he embarks on this new chapter in his life."
A search will begin immediately for his successor.
