BASEBALL OPENS UP SEASON AT RIPKEN EXPERIENCE
Myrtle Beach, S.C. (2/22/19) The Dominican College baseball team opened up their 2019 season at the Ripken Experience today as they defeated Southern Connecticut State University, 10-7, in the opener and fell to the Skyhawks of Stonehill College, 6-3 in the night cap.

Myrtle Beach, S.C. (2/22/19) The Dominican College baseball team opened up their 2019 season at the Ripken Experience today as they defeated Southern Connecticut State University, 10-7, in the opener and fell to the Skyhawks of Stonehill College, 6-3 in the night cap.
Game One: Dominican rallied from a 7-5 deficit after six innings of play to win their season opener 10-7 over the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University.
DC scored three runs in the eighth frame as two runs came in on a throwing error and designated hitter Brian Rotella (Stony Point, n.Y.) delivered an RBI single through the left side to put the Chargers ahead 8-7.
In the top of the ninth, pinch hitter Benjamin Meza (Miami, Fla.) produced a pinch hit two-run blast over the right centerfield fence to extend the lead to 10-7.
The Dominican offense erupted for 16 hits and eight RBIs.
Senior Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) went 4-4 and scored two runs in the game, while shortstop Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) added three hits.
Billy Rotella (Stony Point, N.Y.) had a team leading three RBIs and Meza finished with two RBIs.
Junior Ryan Siuta (Pomona, N.Y.) earned his first win of the season in two and 2/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits.
Senior Jordan Schwark (Kingston, N.Y.) picked up his first save in the season as he faced the final three batters.
Game Two: The Skyhawks led 4-0 after four and half innings of play when the Chargers struck for three runs in their half of the fifth. Shortstop Colon doubled home two run on a shot to left field and he later scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 4-3.
Stonehill answered with a run in the seventh and one in the ninth for the final 6-3 win.
Colon and Bernacet each had two hits for the Chargers, while Colon had the team leading two RBIs in the game.
Starter Eric Sandusky (Stony Point, N.Y.) took the loss (0-1) in four and 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on six hits and two stikeouts.
Dominican (1-1) will take on Le Moyne College tomorrow morning at 10:30 am.
