LATE RALLY FALLS SHORT IN BASEBALL'S LOSS TO MOLLOY

With the loss, the Chargers fall to 7-6 overall on the season. The Lions improve to 3-9 overall on the season.
The Lions got off to a quick start and took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom half of the first inning. The Lions added a run in the third inning to extend their lead to 3-0. The Lions added three runs in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 8-0.
The Lions continued to extend their lead over the Chargers to make the score 10-0 heading into the ninth inning. The Lions offense produced 15 hits against the Chargers. Timothy Panetta struck out eight over 8.2 innings for the Lions.
DC entered the ninth inning trailing by ten runs but rallied to cut the deficit to 10-6. DC's rally fell short as Billy Wildeman entered the game in relief and was able to close out the victory for the Lions.
Geremy Rodriguez (Freeport, N.Y.) drove in the first DC run with an RBI double. Joe Rotelli (Morganville, N.J.) and Nicholas Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J.) also added RBI doubles in the ninth inning. Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) doubled earlier in the game as DC finished with four doubles.
The Chargers' comeback continued with Patrick Bateman (Pearl River, N.Y.) also driving in an RBI which helped DC cut the deficit to 10-6. DC was unable to complete the comeback and fell to the Lions by a score of 10-6.
Sean Hogan recorded three hits in five at-bats for the Lions. Chris Peralta led the Lions in RBI's with three. Matt Overton and Nick Marino each drove in two runs. Michael Wall, Jake Saltzman, and Thomas Brady each added an RBI in the win for the Lions.
The Chargers will be back in action this coming Wednesday, March 20th when they host the Cougars of Caldwell University. The doubleheader with Caldwell will mark the Charger's first CACC conference games of the season and will be the 2019 home opener for DC. Game one is scheduled for 3:00 PM and game two is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
