CHARGERS EARN SPLIT WITH CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Bronxville, N.Y. (4/3/19) The Dominican College baseball team split a conference doubleheader on the road with the Concordia College Clippers.

Bronxville, N.Y. (4/3/19) The Dominican College baseball team split a conference doubleheader on the road with the Concordia College Clippers. DC took game one by a score of 14-13 and fell in game two by a score of 8-2.
Game One: The Chargers pounded 18 hits and scored 14 runs in a back and forth first game of the doubleheader. The Chargers edged the Clippers in game one, but the Clippers recorded 17 hits and scored 13 runs in the loss. DC was able to hold off the comeback by the Clippers to secure the win.
The Chargers scored eight unanswered runs to begin the game over the first four innings. Concordia got on the board in the fourth inning with three runs. DC added two runs in the fifth inning and four in the eighth and held a 14-6 lead over the Clippers.
The Clippers used a big eighth inning to cut the lead back to one run. Concordia entered the eighth inning trailing 14-6 and scored seven straight runs to cut the DC lead to 14-13 with time left to play.
The Chargers were able to end the comeback and hold the Clippers to no runs in the ninth inning on their way to a 14-13 win in game one.
Brian Rotella (Stony Point, N.Y.) had two hits and an RBI in the win while Kennee Torres (Yonkers, N.Y.) also recorded three hits, one RBI, and also scored two runs. Elijah Tavarez (Valley Stream, N.Y.), Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.), Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.), and Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) drove in two RBI each and all recorded two hits. Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) had two hits and scored a team-high three runs.
Jake Partridge led the way for the Clippers with three hits, two RBI, and scored three runs including a sixth-inning home run. Six Concordia hitters recorded multi-hit games and drove in multiple RBI in the loss.
Game Two: The Clippers bounced back in game two to defeat DC by a score of 8-2. Enrico Locascio earned the win for the Clippers with a strong seven innings pitched and held the Chargers to only two runs.
The Clippers scored six runs in the first two innings including a solo homer by Tyler Epple and a grand slam by Joseph Impeduglia.
DC got two runs back, one in the third inning and one in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 6-2. Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Calif.) doubled in the run in the third inning and Benjamin Meza (Miami, Fla.) recorded a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
The Clippers added to their lead in the fourth and fifth innings and secured the 8-2 victory over the Chargers in game two.
The Chargers will return to action on Thursday, April 4th when they host the Clippers for a conference doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 3:00 PM and game two is set for 6:00 PM.
