BASEBALL TAKES ONE FROM RAMS
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/6/19) The Dominican College baseball team picked up one victory in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header held today at Alumni Field on the campus of Jefferson. DC won the opener 14-8, but fell in game two, 7-4.

Following the split, Dominican now stands at 17-14 overall and 10-8 in CACC play.
Game One: The game was scoreless through two innings of play, until the Chargers brought home three runs on run-scoring singles of the bats of Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.), Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) and Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.). Jefferson plated two runs in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 3-2 and added two more runs in the fourth to push ahead, 4-2.
The Charger bats awoke in the top of the fifth when they scored eight runs on seven hits to re-claim a 11-4 lead. Decker led off the inning with a solo home run and four batters later freshman Jayson Wright (North Rockland, N.Y.) brought in a run on a sacrifice fly ball to centerfield. Three batters later and with two outs, senior Elijah Tavarez (Valley Stream, N.Y.) hit a run-scoring single and two runs came in as the next batter reached on a Ram fielding error. Bartolomei would follow with an RBI single and Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) delivered a two-run single.
Jefferson would get two runs back in the bottom of the fifth and one in the seventh to make the score 11-7, but Dominican added a run in the eighth on the solo home run off the bat of Brian Rotella (Stony Point, N.Y.) and scored two more in the ninth on the single by Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) and the sac fly off the bat of Bartolomei to make the score 14-7. The Rams ended the game with a run in the ninth for the final 14-8 Charger win.
Bartolomei, Decker and Colon all collected three hits in the win, while Bartolomei had three RBI.
Freshman Ryan DeMille (Millstone Township, N.J.) earned his first collegiate victory in one and 2/3 innings of relief.
Game Two: Dominican put three runs on the board in the top of the second inning as Rotella scored on a wild pitch and Colon followed with a two-run triple to center field. The Rams countered in the bottom frame, scoring six runs on four hits to jump in front 6-3.
Catcher Benjamin Meza (Miami, Fla.) cut the deficit to 6-4 in the top of the fourth with a RBI single through the left side, but Jefferson regained a three-run lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Rams added runs in the sixth and seventh inning for the 7-4 win.
Meza, Decker and Nicholas DeCandia (Cresskill, N.Y.) recorded two hits a-piece in the loss.
Dominican returns to action on Tuesday as they travel to CACC North Division foe, Post University.
