Waterbury, N.Y. (4/10/19) The Dominican College baseball team swept host, Post University, 11-8 and 7-3 this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header played at Municipal Stadium.

Waterbury, N.Y. (4/10/19) The Dominican College baseball team swept host, Post University, 11-8 and 7-3 this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header played at Municipal Stadium.
With the win, Dominican improves to 19-14 overall and 12-8 in CACC play.
Game One: The Chargers scored two runs in the top of the first on the two-run double off the bat of senior Elijah Tavarez (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and added five more runs in the second on three hits, highlighted by a three-run double by Tavarez to extend the lead to 7-1.
DC brought in two runs in the fifth on run-scoring hits by Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) and Kenee Torres (Yonkers, N.Y.) and used a two-run home run by senior Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) in the sixth to make the score 11-6. The Eagles plated two runs in the sixth for the final 11-8 win.
Tavarez had a career high five RBI, while Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honderas) collected three hits.
Starter Eric Sandusky (Stony Point, N.Y.) improved to 3-2 on the season in five and 1/3 innings of work, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and three strikeouts.
Game Two: DC used a four-run second inning to jump ahead 5-0 en route to the 7-3 win. In the second inning, Colon got the scoring going with a two-run triple and Torres brought him home on a RBI triple. Torres came home on the sacrifice fly ball hit by Sanders.
Sanders went 2-3 in the game, while Colon had two RBI.
Freshman Brandon Mology (Wall Township, N.J.) picked up the win in five innings of work, allowing three runs on four hits and tied his career high with seven strikeouts.
Cole Francher earned his second save of the season.
The Chargers are scheduled to travel to Adelphi University tomorrow afternoon.
