KNIGHTS COMPLETE COMEBACK TO EDGE CHARGERS

Flushing, N.Y. (4/16/19) The Dominican College baseball team traveled to Queens College for a non-conference game with the Knights. Knights defeated the Chargers in a back and forth comeback victory secured in the bottom of the ninth inning by a score of 11-10. The Knights improved to 20-13-1 overall and Dominican falls to 20-17 overall.
Bryan Krolikowski earned the win in relief for the Knights and Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) suffered the loss for the Chargers. As a team, the Knights pounded 16 hits while the Chargers smacked 15 hits.
Anthony Scotti had three hits and drove in three RBI for the Knights in the win. Jon Strauss also had three hits and drove in two runs. Nick Font had two hits and two RBI including the game-winning hit in the ninth.
For the Chargers, Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) recorded three hits, drove in three runs, and scored four runs including a three-run homer in the eighth inning. Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) had two hits and recorded three RBI while Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) recorded three hits and two RBI. Billy Rotella (Stony Point, N.Y.) smacked a homer in the seventh inning while Elijah Tavarez (Valley Stream, N.Y.) added one hit and one RBI.
The Knights came from behind to the game four times during the game before they secured the comeback win in the ninth. Each team scored once in the first inning and DC extended to a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning.
The Knights took their first lead of the game in the fourth inning with three runs for the 4-3 lead. DC answered in the sixth to regain the lead over the Knights, but the Knights tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth.
The Chargers jumped out to a 10-6 lead highlighted by home runs by Rotella and Colon. The Knights cut the deficit to one run in the eighth inning. In the bottom of the ninth, Rommel Ocampo drove in the tying run and Nick Font ended the game by driving in the winning run later in the inning for the 11-10 comeback victory.
The Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday, April 17th when they travel to the University of the Sciences for a conference doubleheader. Game one will begin at 12:00 PM and game two will follow at 3:00 PM.
