BASEBALL TAKES ONE FROM DEVILS
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/17/19) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, the University of the Sciences in games played this afternoon at Richie Ashburn Field. The Devils won the opener, 5-3 while the Chargers ended the day with a 16-5 win in the night cap.

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/17/19) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, the University of the Sciences in games played this afternoon at Richie Ashburn Field. The Devils won the opener, 5-3 while the Chargers ended the day with a 16-5 win in the night cap.
With the split, Dominican is now 21-18 overall and 14-10 in the CACC.
Game One: USCI scored two runs in the bottom of the first, but the Chargers got a run back in the top of the fourth on the RBI ground out off the bat of senior Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.). The Devils countered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and added one in the fifth to increase the lead to 5-1. DC added a run in the eighth on the run-scoring single from Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) and added one in the ninth on the RBI single from right fielder Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) for the final 5-3 score.
Sanders had three hits in the game, while senior Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) added two hits.
Eric Sandusky (Stony Point, N.Y.) took the loss in six innings of work, allowing five runs on nine hits and five strikeouts.
Game Two: Dominican scored runs in the first five innings, including a five run fourth and fifth stanza en route to the 16-5 win.
Decker and Bartolomei recorded three hits each, while Decker tallied four RBI and Bartolomei added two RBI.
Starter John-Michael Broderick (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) got the win in five innings of work, allowing three runs on five hits and two strikeouts.
