CHARGERS PUNCH TICKET TO CACC FINALS
Waterbury, Conn. (5/10/19) The Dominican College baseball team earned a trip to the CACC Baseball Championship Finals after beating Bloomfield College in an elimination game.

Waterbury, Conn. (5/10/19) The Dominican College baseball team earned a trip to the CACC Baseball Championship Finals after beating Bloomfield College in an elimination game.
The Chargers were forced to win game two on day two of the tournament after falling to the Wilmington University Wildcats by a score of 5-3. DC then met the Bears for the elimination game and secured the 3-1 win to move onto day three.
Game One: Kennee Torres (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Billy Rotella (Stony Point, N.Y.) each finished the game with two hits. Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) and Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) each drove in one RBI for the Chargers. Colon had a big RBI triple in the seventh inning which tied the game then later scored to give DC the lead.
Kendall Small finished with three hits including a double and scored two runs for the Wildcats. Luke Johnson went 2 for 4 in the win with four RBI including the three-run home run in the seventh inning to put WILMU on top.
Brandon Mology (Wall Township, N.J.) started for DC and provided 6.1 innings. Jordyn Schwark (Kingston, N.Y.) entered the game in relief and pitched 1.2 innings for the Chargers.
Sean Deely recorded four strikeouts in six innings pitched for the Wildcats. Justin Mears entered the game in relief and earned the win to improve to 1-4. Zach Fredrick pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Kendall Small earned the save with a scoreless ninth.
With the win, the Wildcats moved on to the CACC final on Saturday, May 11th. The Chargers met the Bloomfield College Bears in an elimination game two.
Game Two: Jaden Diaz-Lambert (Erial, N.J.) shut down the Bears lineup with a complete game and recorded eight strikeouts. The Bears recorded one run but the run was unearned. Diaz-Lambert held the Bears to only three hits and earned his third win of the season.
Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) and Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) each recorded two hits for Dominican.
After the Bears took an early 1-0 lead, Benjamin Meza (Miami, Fla.) hit a two-RBI double to put the Chargers on top. Decker drove in the third run for the Chargers in the fifth inning and DC was on their way to a win to avoid elimination.
The Chargers will meet Wilmington University for the second time in the tournament. The game is scheduled for 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 11th. The Wildcats enter the game undefeated in the tournament. The Chargers will have to defeat the Wildcats in game one to force a game two later that day.
