BASEBALL PICKS UP FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
Cary, N.C. (3/6/20) The Dominican College baseball team earned their first win of the 2020 season after besting the University of New Haven, 5-4, this afternoon in a non-conference game played at the USA National Training Complex.

With the win, Dominican improves to 1-6 on the season.
DC scored in the top of the first inning when senior shortstop Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) hit an run-scoring single for the early 1-0 lead. The Chargers added two more runs in the third on the solo home run off the bat of junior Ryan Ruziecki (Lincroft, N.J.) and later Colon delivered another RBI single to increase thel lead to 3-0.
New Haven got on the board in their half of the third frame, but Dominican added two more runs in the fifth on the two-run single off the bat of Steven Santana (Bronx, N.Y.) to increase the advantage to 5-2.
A run in the bottom of the fifth and ninth stanzas for New Haven made the score 5-4 for the eventual final.
Colon finished the game with three hits and two RBI.
Ruziecki, Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) and Santana collected two hits a-piece.
Junior Jaden Diaz-Lambert (Erial, N.J.) improved to 1-1 on the season in six innings of work, allowing three runs on seven hits and six strikeouts. Brandon Mology (Wall Township, N.J.) recorded his first save of the season.
