MEN'S BASKETBALL REBOUNDS AGAINST WILMNGTON UNIVERSITY
Newark, Del. (2/7/19) The Dominican College men's basketball team rebounded from a loss this past Tuesday to upend host, Wilmington University, 92-83, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest played at the WU Athletics Complex.

With the win, Dominican improves to 16-4 overall and 11-1 in the CACC while the Wildcats fall to 9-12 overall and 6-6 in the conference.
The 'Cats took an 8-7 edge with 16:51 left in the first half when Dominican went on a 13-4 run, highlighted by a three-point basket from junior Tavon Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.), to gain a 20-13 lead at the 11:50 mark. WU would come back to knot the score at 26-all with three and a half minutes left in the half, but the next six straight scores belonged to Dominican and they used the run to head into the intermission with a 34-30 lead.
Guard Jonathan Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) delivered a team high 12 first half points, while senior Ian Gardener (Norwalk, Conn.) produced 10 and five rebounds.
Wilmington opened the second half with back-to-back baskets to re-tie the game at 34-34, but the Chargers went on a 14-6 run to claim a 48-40 advantage with under 14 minutes to go in regulation. A Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) layup with 6:12 to go gave DC their biggest lead of the contest, 73-58, as they went on to the 92-83 win.
Rodwell led all five of the Chargers in double figures with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Gardener finished with 18 points, a team best eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Garcia tallied 16 points, seven rebounds and a game best seven assists.
Guard Ginyard netted 13 points and four rebounds, while senior Sayon Charles (Staten Islnd, N.Y.) scored 12 points.
Junior Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) grabbed six boards and six assists to go along with six points in the victory.
Dominican continues on their three-game road trip this coming Saturday as they take on Jefferson. Game time is slated for 4pm.
