The Chargers improve to 2-0 and the Mavericks fall to 0-2 overall in the early season.
The Chargers offense put up 55 points in the first half and held a 55-31 lead at halftime. The Chargers used a big run in the first half to separate themselves from Mercy College. The Chargers held their largest lead of the first half which was 26 points.
Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) led the Chargers in the first half with 17 points and made five of six three-point shots. Tavon Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) added 12 points in the first half.
Bryan Griffin scored a team-high 17 points in the first half to lead the Mavericks and added five rebounds.
The Chargers continued their strong play in the second half by extending out to their largest lead of the game which was 28 points. The Chargers rolled to the 101-74 win over the Mavericks.
DC finished shooting 48.6% from the field and 45.9% from three-point range. The DC bench outscored the Mercy bench 48-29.
Rodwell and Ginyard each scored 21 points to lead the Chargers. Tedrick Wilcox (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished the game with 14 points. Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) finished the game with a double-double with 11 boards and 10 points. Ethan Smith, Jr. (Nyack, N.Y.) added 13 points.
Bryan Griffin finished the game with 27 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Mavericks. Dayvon Cuffey finished with 14 points and added six rebounds.
The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, November 16th when they host St. Michael's College at 7:00 PM. The Chargers will host the 8th Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament over the weekend.
