Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/16/19) The Dominican College men’s basketball team defeated St Michale’s College by a score of 89-71 at the 8th Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/16/19) The Dominican College men's basketball team defeated St Michale's College by a score of 89-71 at the 8th Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament. The Chargers improve to 3-0 overall on the season and the St Michael's falls to 2-2 overall.
Both teams played a close first half and DC held a 50-40 edge at halftime. The Chargers shot 56.3% from the field. The Purple Knights shot 53.6% from the field. Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) scored a team-high 16 points in the first half for DC.
Jordan Guzman led the way for the Purple Knights in the first half with 10 points.
In the second half, the Chargers outscored the Purple Knights 39-31 and secured the 89-71 win. DC jumped out to their largest lead of the game which was 25.
The Charger bench outscored the Purple Knights' bench 28-7. Burgess finished the game with 18 points and added seven rebounds and four steals. Tavon Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) also added 18 points for the Chargers. Tedrick Wilcox (Pawtucket, RI) finished the game with 16 points.
Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) added 12 points, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Jonathon Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) scored nine points, five rebounds, and four steals. Jason Copman (Cumberland, Md) recorded eight rebounds and scored six points.
Kasai Brown scored a team-high 19 points and pulled down seven boards for the Purple Knights. Eli DiGrande scored 15 points while Jordan Guzman finished the game with 14 points. Jalen Gorham added 11 points
The Chargers will be back in action on Sunday, November 17th when they host the College of St Rose at 7:00 PM.
