Orangeburg, N.Y. (12/3/19) The Dominican College men's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season to the Felician University Golden-Falcons by a score of 88-86.
The Chargers now stand at 7-1 (2-1 CACC) on the season. Felician earns their first conference win of the season and improves to 3-4 (1-0 CACC).
The first half was evenly matched, and the Chargers held a 43-41 advantage at halftime. Brandt Roundtree (Plainfield, N.J.) led the Chargers in the opening half with 11 points. Rachid Shimou scored 12 points in the first half for Felician.
Both teams went back and forth in the second half. Down the stretch, Felician extended to their largest lead of the game with just over five minutes remaining. DC continued to respond to stay in the game
The Chargers continued to fight back and were able to tie the game late. Tavon Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) was fouled in three-point territory and went to the free-throw line with a chance to tie the game.
Ginyard hit all three free-throws to tie the game. The Golden-Falcons' Dee-End McRae was fouled with one second remaining. McCrae hit both free-throws to help lift Felician over DC.
Ginyard finished the game with 21 points to lead the Chargers. Jonathan Garcia (Springfiled, Mass.) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists. Garcia also finished with nine rebounds and three steals. Tedrick Wilcox (Pawtucket, R.I.) also finished with 15 points while Brandt Roundtree added 14 points.
Jason Copman (Cumberland, Md.) added eight points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with nine points.
Jay'von Jackson scored a team-high 18 points and pulled down 11 boards for Felician. Zamir Wright added 16 points while Rachid Shimou finished with 15 points. Dee-End McCrae added 13 points while Jeff Lewis scored 11 points.
The Chargers will look to bounce back on Saturday, December 7th when they travel to Bloomfield College for a CACC match up with the Bears at 3:00 PM.
