CHARGERS RALLY TO UPEND WILDCATS

(1/11/20) The Dominican College men's basketball team rallied from an early 12 point deficit in the first half to upend the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University, 76-69, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

(1/11/20) The Dominican College men's basketball team rallied from an early 12 point deficit in the first half to upend the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University, 76-69, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
With the win Dominican improves to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in CACC play, while the 'Cats fall to 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
The Wildcats opened the contest with three consecutive three-point baskets and continued to take a 13-1 lead with 14:56 left in the first half. A Jermaine Head trey made the score 23-12, but the Chargers charged back into the game with a 21-9 run to close the first half and lift them to a 33-32 advantage.
A layup from senior Jason Copman (Cumberland, Md.) extended the lead to double digits (50-40) with 12:49 to go in regulation and later a steal from senior Jonathan Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) led him to record a layup and give DC their biggest lead of the contest, 63-50, with 7:46 on the clock. WU closed out the game on a 4-1 run for the final 76-59 Charger win.
Garcia and guard Tavon Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) led the Chargers as they netted 17 points a-piece. Garcia went 6-9 from the floor and added five assists, while Ginyard shot 5-8 from the three point arc.
Sophomore Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a career high 15 points on a 7-10 performance from the floor, while junior Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) recorded the team's only double-double with 12 points and a season high 15 rebounds in the win.
Dominican will travel to Concordia College on Wednesday evening.
