CHARGERS FALL TO DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA IN THEIR HOME OPENER

The Chargers fall to 1-4 overall on the season after the loss and the Firebirds improve their record to 2-2 overall.
Ryan Fischer (Monroe, N.Y.) led the Chargers with four goals and fired ten shots in the loss. Marcos Pierce (Middleburg, Va.), Nicholas D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.), and Lorcan Teahan (Sparkill, N.Y.) each added a goal for Dominican. The Chargers took 46 total shots as a team.
Alan Singleton led the Firebirds with three goals and recorded two assists. Jeffery Vo added two goals for UDC. Six different players added one goal each in the win for the Firebirds.
The Firebirds opened a three-goal lead in the first quarter with two goals from Singleton and one from Jeffery Vo.
D'Alessandro put the Chargers on the board to start the second quarter but the Firebirds scored the next two goals to take a 5-1 lead into halftime.
The Firebirds extended out to an 8-1 lead by scoring the first three goals out of the break to open the third quarter. DC ended the run with a goal by Marcos Pierce at the end of the quarter. DC outscored the Firebirds 5-3 in the fourth quarter but was not enough as they fell 11-7.
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they host Molloy College for a non-conference game on Wednesday, March 27th.
