MEN'S LACROSSE EDGED BY STAC

Hillburn, N.Y. (4/18/19) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team fell in a close game to St. Thomas Aquinas College by a score of 8-7. The Chargers fall to 3-9 on the season overall and STAC improves to 5-6 on the season.
Ryan Fischer (Monroe, N.Y.) scored two goals for the Chargers and took 11 shots in the game. Marcos Peirce (Middleburg, Va.), Darien Chismar (Columbus, N.J.), Nicholas D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.), Lorcan Teahan (Sparkill, N.Y.), and Shaun Palmer (Massapequa, N.Y.) each scored one goal for the Chargers. Teahan added two assists while Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) also added two assists.
Marcos Peirce and Luke Martini (Abington, Mass.) each added one assist. Patrick Gifford (Galloway, N.J.) started in goal for the Chargers and made 12 saves to help keep his team in the game.
Brenton Mighty led the way for STAC with three goals on seven shots. Tyler Senatore and Anthony Irizarry each added two goals. Edward Kelly added one goal in the win. Ryan Mello recorded the win in goal for STAC for his fifth win of the season and recorded 22 saves.
The game was scoreless until the 5:50 mark of the first quarter for the 1-0 lead on a goal by Irizarry. Brenton Mighty scored the second goal of the game for STAC for the 2-0 lead.
Each team scored three goals in the second quarter, with STAC scoring three-straight to take a 5-1 lead. Chismar and Teahan each scored a goal at the end of the half and DC trailed 5-3 at halftime.
Dominican outscored STAC in the third quarter 4-1 including a three-goal run to end the third quarter to take their first lead of the game. In the fourth quarter, Brenton Mighty tied the game at 7-7 just over four minutes into the final quarter. Senatore scored what was eventually the game-winning goal and STAC secured the win.
DC will be back in action on Wednesday, April 24th for a conference game against the Wilmington University Wildcats at 4:00 PM.
