LADY CHARGERS EARN SWEEP OVER GRIFFINS

Philadelphia, Pa. (3/28/18) The Lady Chargers earned a sweep in a CACC double header on Wednesday over the Chestnut Hill College Griffins. The Lady Chargers improved to 7-9 (4-2 CACC) with both wins over the Griffins. With both losses, the Griffins dropped to 0-9 (0-2 CACC) as the Lady Chargers earned at game one win by a score of 12-4 and a game two win by a score of 9-0.
Game One: Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) took the mound and earned her second win of the season. The Lady Chargers opened the scoring in the second inning with five runs to take an early 5-0 lead. Dominican recorded five hits in the inning and Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) drove in the first run with a double. Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) followed with an RBI single and Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) singled in Bowe to add to the lead. Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.J.) finished the five-run inning for the Lady Chargers with a two-run homer.
The Griffins recorded a run in the bottom of the second inning and were able to cut into the Lady Charger's deficit over the next couple of innings. Brielle Riotte pulled the Griffins within two runs with a homer in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Lady Chargers pulled away in the top of the fifth inning with seven runs. Bowe doubled for an RBI to start the scoring in the inning. Fitzgerald added two more RBI's with a single to the left side.
Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, N.Y.) hit a two-run homerun to clear the bases for two RBI's and two batters later Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) drove a two-run homerun to right center field to give Dominican a 12-3 lead. The Griffins earned a run in the bottom half of the fifth inning to make the deficit 12-4, but the Lady Chargers secured the 12-4 victory.
Game Two: Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) took the mound for the Lady Chargers and earned her fourth win of the season. The Lady Chargers got off to a quick start with two runs in the first inning. Daniels opened the scoring with an RBI single and Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) drove in the second run of the first inning. Bowe drove in the Lady Charger's third run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the second inning.
Regan recorded a three-run homer in the third inning to help extend the Lady Chargers lead out to 6-0. Dominican added three more runs in the fourth inning with Regan recording two more RBI's with a double capping a six RBI game.
Dominican recorded seven hits in the win to help finish off a 9-0 victory to cap off a sweep of the Griffins.
Dominican will travel to Molloy College on Monday April 2nd for a non-conference double header and 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
