SOFTBALL SPLITS CACC GAMES WITH GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE

(4/6/18) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Goldey-Beacom College, in games played this afternoon at the Jackson Athletic Complex. The Lady Chargers took the opener, 13-7, but the Lightning rallied to win game two, 10-7.

The Lady Chargers took the opener, 13-7, but the Lightning rallied to win game two, 10-7.
Following the games, Dominican is now 10-10 overalll and 7-3 in conference play.
Game One: A single up-the-middle off the bat of shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) brought home Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.Y.) and give DC the 1-0 lead. GBC used a single up-the-middle in the bottom half of the inning to re-tie the score, 1-1.
DC regain the lead in the second inning as they scored five runs on three hits and two errors. Catcher Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) tripled home the first run and two batters later she scored as Schwed reached base on a fielding error. Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, N.Y.) followed with an RBI single through the left side and Regan doubled home two runs to rebuild a 6-1 lead.
Dominican led 6-2 through four innings of play when they added a run in the fifth on the RBI double down the right field line from sophomore Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) to make the score 7-2. The team tacked on six more runs in the sixth inning as designated player Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) hit a two-run double to center field and Luzetsky later hit a RBI single up-the-middle. Freshman Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Md.) plated a run with a single to left field and Schwed produced a two out two-run triple to center field for the 13-2 lead. GBC scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth for the final 13-7 win.
Regan and Luzetsky each had three hits in the win, while Regan added three RBIs.
Junior Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) got the win (6-4) in three innings of work, allowing one run on five hits and two strikeouts.
Game Two: Dominican scored three runs in the top of the first inning as Schwed doubled home Bowe and Fitzgerald scored on a passed ball. A run-scoring ground out from Daniels gave DC the 3-0 lead.
GBC got two runs back in the third inning and scored eight runs on nine hits in the fifth to jump out to a 10-3 lead. The Lady Chargers scored four runs in the sixth as Regan blasted a two-run home run and Shalei Kraft (Waverly, N.Y.) doubled home a run. Bowe hit a run-scoring single to center field to cut the deficit to 10-7.
Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) suffered the loss (3-2) in 4 1/3 innings of work, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Monday when they travel to Post University.
