Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/11/18) The Lady Chargers softball team swept a doubleheader at home over the Clippers of Concordia College. Dominican took game one by a score of 11-1 in five innings and game two by a score of 4-3. Dominican improved to 14-10 (11-3 CACC) with both wins.
Game One: The Lady Chargers recorded three runs in the bottom of the first inning on a three-run homerun by Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, N.Y.) to get the scoring started. Dominican blew the game open in the second inning with seven runs and capped their scoring in the third inning with one more run. The Lady Chargers cruised to an 11-1 win in game one.
Daniels went three for three with six RBI's and a pair of three-run homeruns to help lead the Lady Chargers in the win. Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) earned the win to improve her record to 8-4 on the season and recorded three strikeouts.
Game Two: Both teams did not score in the first two innings. The Lady Chargers took a 2-0 lead in the third inning when Taylor Daniels hit a sacrifice fly and Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) followed with a sacrifice fly.
The Clippers got a run back in the fourth inning when Carly Acuna recorded an RBI single. Dominican added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when Daniels homered to give the Lady Chargers a 3-1 lead.
The Clippers tied the game in the top of the sixth inning when Tori Tansley drove a two-run homer to make the score 3-3. The Lady Chargers secured the victory in the bottom of the seventh inning when they scratched a run on an error for the 4-3 victory.
The Clippers led the game in hits by recording 12 for the game as the Lady Chargers recorded four hits.
Dominican will be back in action on Saturday April 14th when they host Wilmington University. Game one will start at 12:00 PM and game two is scheduled for 2:00PM.
