WILDCATS TAKE TWO FROM LADY CHARGERS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/14/18) The Dominican College softball squad lost two games to the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header held today at the DC Softball Field. WU won the first game, 4-1 and took the nightcap, 3-2.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/14/18) The Dominican College softball squad lost two games to the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header held today at the DC Softball Field. WU won the first game, 4-1 and took the nightcap, 3-2.
With the losses, Dominican falls to 14-12 overall and 11-5 in conference play.
Game One: The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead on the solo home run by Makayla McCarthy in their half of the second inning. Dominican countered in the bottom frame on the home run to center field off the bat of senior Taylor Daniels (Watevliet, N.Y.) to re-tie the score at 1-1.
WU claimed a 3-1 advantage in the fifth stanza on a two run shot over the center field fence by left fielder Rosa'Lynn Burton.
A solo home run by Lexi Baughman in the top of the seventh for the 4-1 lead and win.
Junior Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) took the complete game loss (9-5), allowing four runs on eight hits and seven strikeouts.
Game Two: The 'Cats took a 1-0 lead in the first as a run scored on a fielding error, but the Lady CHargers got the run back in the bottom of the second the inning as senior shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) delivered a home run over the left field fence to make the score 1-1.
An RBI single in the third inning regained a 2-1 edge for the Wildcats and they maintained that lead until the sixth when centerfielder Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.J.) hit a fly ball to center which allowed Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) to come home and re-tie the game, 2-2.
Wilmington scored the go ahed run in the top of the seventh on the run-scoring single to center for the 3-2 lead and eventual win.
Bowe finished the game with two hits.
Senior Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) suffered the loss (3-3), allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits.
Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host Caldwell University.
