LADY CHARGERS ADVANCE TO DAY TWO OF CACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Lakewood, N.J. (5/3/18) The Lady Chargers softball team traveled to Lakewood, New Jersey for day one of the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Championships.

Lakewood, N.J. (5/3/18) The Lady Chargers softball team traveled to Lakewood, New Jersey for day one of the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Championships. Dominican faced the Eagles of Post University in game one. Dominican fell to the Eagles by a score of 8-0. Dominican bounced back in game two to beat the Rams of Jefferson University by a score of 9-4.
Game One: The Eagles jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first inning. The Eagles added a run in the fifth inning to secure the 8-0 win.
Sara Selimovski led the Eagles with three RBI's and two hits in the win including a home run. Demi Rivera also hit a home run in the win to contribute an RBI. Emily Schafer finished the game with an RBI on a sacrifice fly.
Brigit Betley earned the win to improve her record to 5-5 on the season. Betley pitched all five innings and recorded four strikeouts. The Eagles as a team finished the game with eight hits.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers faced the Rams of Jefferson University in game two needing to earn a win to advance to day two of the CACC tournament. Dominican used a six-run first inning to grab an early 6-0 lead.
Dominican extended their lead to 7-0 in the second inning. The Rams ended the Dominican scoring run by getting on the board in the third inning to cut the deficit to 7-4. Dominican added two runs in the fifth inning when Shailei Kraft (Waverly, NY) capped off a three-hit, three RBI game with a two-run home run which gave her team a 9-4 lead in route to a win in game two.
Jillian Regan (Staten Island, NY) had two RBI's and three hits including a double in the win. Taylor Gilligan (Medford, NJ), Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, NY), Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, NY), and Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) each recorded an RBI in the win. Dominican recorded 14 hits in game two and Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) earned the win for the Lady Chargers in five innings pitched to improve to 12-7 on the season.
Day two of the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Championships will continue Friday, May 4th from Lakewood, New Jersey.
