LADY CHARGERS SPLIT DH WITH GRIFFINS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/17/19) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in games played this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. Chestnut Hill won the first game, 2-0 while Dominican brought home a 2-1 win in the night cap.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/17/19) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in games played this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. Chestnut Hill won the first game, 2-0 while Dominican brought home a 2-1 win in the night cap.
Dominican now stands on 18-17 overall and 13-7 in the CACC.
Game One: The Griffins scored a run in the second on the RBI single and adde a run in the third on a sacrifice fly ball for the 2-0 lead and eventual win.
Shortstop Shalei Kraft (Waverly, N.Y.) had two hits for the Lady Chargers.
Madeline Uschock (Greensburg, Pa.) took the loss, allowing two runs on nine hits and five strikeouts.
Game Two: Junior Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) gave DC a 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the fourth inning as she hit a run-scoring single to left center field.
CHC tied the contest in the fifth and the score remained tied until the bottom of the seventh when senior catcher Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) delivered the game-winning RBI single up the middle to bring home sophomore Alyssa Schwalb (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and lift Dominican to the 2-1 victory.
Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) led Dominican with two hits and one stolen base in the victory.
Sophomore hurler Shelby Smith (Valley Center, Calif.) picked up the complete game victory, allowing one run on four hits and one strikeout.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Monday when they travel to conference opponent, Bloomfield College.
