SOFTBALL WINS TWO ON DAY TWO OF THE SPRING GAMES
Clermont, Fla. (3/8/20) The Dominican College softball squad improved to 3-1 on the young season after winning two games at The Spring Games today. The Lady Chargers defeated Bemidji State, 5-4 and topped Wayne State, 6-4.

Clermont, Fla. (3/8/20) The Dominican College softball squad improved to 3-1 on the young season after winning two games at The Spring Games today. The Lady Chargers defeated Bemidji State, 5-4 and topped Wayne State, 6-4.
Game One: The Beavers held a 2-0 lead after two innings of play, but the Lady Chargers got on the board in the fourth inning with five runs on four hits. Schwalb got things going with an RBI double and Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) followed with a run-scoring single. After Bowe stole second, Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y) brought her home on a single and two runs came home on Bailey Bell's (Washington, Pa.) hit and a Beaver error.
Bemidji State added two more runs in the sixth inning for the final 5-4 score.
Kyra Wiens (Chilliwack, British Columbia) picked up the win in three and 1/3 innings of relief, allowing two runs one hit and six strikeouts.
Game Two: Dominican opened the game with a four-run bottom of the first inning as two runs scored on errors, one on a wild pitch and one on a stolen base.
The Warriors got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth, but DC added two more runs in the sixth on an error and a run-scoring single to center field off the bat of Fitzgerald to increase the lead to 6-1.
WSC added three more runs in the seventh for the final 6-4 Lady Charger win.
Freshman Samantha Carbonara (Newark, Del.) got her first collegiate win in five innings of work, allowing four runs (two earned) on nine hits.
