Garden City, N.Y. (11/28/18) The Lady Chargers traveled to Adelphi University for a non-conference game on Wednesday. With the win, the Panthers improved to 4-3 and DC falls to 1-5 on the season.
The Panthers had a strong start in the opening quarter with a 23-15 lead heading into the second quarter. The Lady Chargers cut the deficit to three heading into halftime.
Ashley Merritt (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) led the Lady Chargers with 15 points in the first half. Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) contributed 9 points in the first half for DC.
Leonie Edringer and Fallyn Stephens each led the Panthers in the first half with 11 points.
In the third quarter, the Panthers used a 16-5 run to take a commanding lead over the Lady Chargers. The Panthers finished the third quarter with 27 points and secured the win with a solid fourth quarter for the 90-75 win.
The Panthers had four different players in double-digits. Fallyn Stephens led the Panthers with 21 points and Edringer added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the win. Julia Strachan finished the game with 17 points and Katie Murphy contributed 10 points and 4 assists. Niajah Morgan finished with 9 points in the win.
Merritt led the Lady Chargers with 20 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Guerra contributed 17 points and recorded 7 rebounds with 4 assists in the loss. Ciera Rivera (Pomona, N.Y.) scored 14 points and Samantha McClutchy (Washington Township, N.J.) finished with 11 points and 5 rebounds.
DC will be back in action on Tuesday, December 4th when they host the Eagles of Post University for their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game of the season.
