New Haven, Conn. (3/2/19) The regular season is complete and the field is set for the 2018-19 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Championship, which will begin with the quarterfinals on Tuesday at the sites of the highest seeds. Eight teams will battle it out on Tuesday looking to make the CACC semifinals, which will be staged at Caldwell University next Saturday at 5 and 7 p.m.
University of the Sciences capped its regular season with an 18-1 record in conference play to not only capture the CACC South Division Championship, but also lock up the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament. The Devils concluded the regular season on Saturday with an 84-54 win over Chestnut Hill College as part of the league's Rivalry Weekend. USciences will face Felician University (North #4 Seed) in Tuesday's quarterfinals at 6 p.m., in Philadelphia, Pa.
Dominican College earned the No. 1 seed in the North and clinched the North Division regular season title. The Chargers will play host to Goldey-Beacom College in Tuesday's first round, as the Lightning locked up the fourth and final playoff spot in the South Division Saturday with a come-from-behind 73-69 win over rival Wilmington University.
The only other games during Saturday's regular season finale that carried playoff implications was the determining of the No. 3 seed in the North Division, which went the way of Post University with its 63-55 triumph over Concordia College. Post's win meant that Felician would be the North's fourth seed despite the Golden Falcons earning a nice 61-58 victory over Georgian Court University, as the Lions had already entered the weekend locked into the third seed in the South. Post will travel to face South No. 2 Jefferson on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., while Georgian Court will take on North No. 2 seed Caldwell at 6 p.m., in Northern Jersey.
Tuesday's four quarterfinal winners will advance to next Saturday's CACC semifinals at Caldwell in New Jersey. Saturday's two semifinal games will be at 5 and 7 p.m., at the Newman Center. The two semifinal winners will then square off in the 2018-19 CACC Championship Final on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The winner of the CACC Championship will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament, which will take place from March 15-18, at a site to be determined.
