LADY CHARGERS FINISH THE REGULAR SEASON WITH A WIN ON SENIOR DAY

Before the start of the game, DC's six seniors were recognized. Seniors Ashley Merritt (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), Kyla Ramseur (Bloomfield, N.J.), Malia Robinson (Jersey City, N.J.), Katie Clarke (Cold Spring, N.Y.), Mykalee Chambers (Bronx, N.Y.), and Amanda Gordon (Teaneck, N.J.) were recognized during the pregame Senior Day ceremony.
After the win, the Lady Chargers improved to 15-13 (13-6 CACC) on the season and finished the regular season on a four-game winning streak. The Warriors finish the season with a record of 8-8 (6-13 CACC).
Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) led the way for the Lady Chargers with 12 points and recorded five rebounds. Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) finished with 11 points, five assists, three steals, and a team-high eight rebounds. Jaid Harrell (Kingston, N.Y.) finished with eight points while Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.), Naabea-Janaan Assibey-Bonsu (Central Islip, N.Y.), and Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) all scored seven points.
Guerra also recorded four rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Ashley Merritt added five points and four assists.
In the first quarter, the Warriors started off strong by scoring the game's first eight points. Nyack finished off the strong opening quarter with a 21-12 lead.
DC bounced back in the second quarter by outscoring the Warriors 16-8 and cut the deficit to 29-28 by halftime.
Both teams only scored seven points each in the third quarter and the Warriors held a 36-35 lead over DC heading into the fourth quarter.
Bonsu started the scoring for DC in the fourth quarter with a three-pointer to give the Lady Chargers the lead. DC never gave the lead back as they were able to extend to their largest lead of the game over the Warriors and finish off the 64-53 win.
For the Warriors, Kyla Given led the way with 15 points, seven rebounds, and recorded three steals. Jenissa Encarnacion finished with 12 points and four rebounds. Jordan Rivera added six points.
The Lady Chargers finish the regular season as the #2 seed in the CACC North Division standings and will host the #3 seed Jefferson University of the CACC South Division in the first round of the CACC tournament. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3rd at 5:30 PM.
