BIG SECOND HALF HELPS LIFT LADY CHARGERS OVER NYACK
Hillburn, N.Y. (4/9/19) The Dominican College women’s lacrosse team defeated the Warriors of Nyack College at home by a score of 19-9.
Hillburn, N.Y. (4/9/19) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team defeated the Warriors of Nyack College at home by a score of 19-9. DC improves their record to 3-6 (3-2 CACC) with the win and the Warriors fall to 5-8 (3-2 CACC) after the loss.
Jenna Kelleher (Holbrook, N.Y.) led the Lady Chargers with seven goals and also added one assist in the win. Kelleher took a team-high 14 shots. Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) scored five goals and recorded one assist while Sarah Smith (Slate Hill, N.Y.) added three goals and one assist.
Laurel Kennedy (Orangeburg, N.Y.), Abbigail Dufort (Schenectady, N.Y.), Taylor Sobel (Oradell, N.J.), and Melissa Peysson (East Meadow, N.Y.) each added a goal in the win for DC. Rebecca Nutting (Marcellus, N.Y.) earned the win and recorded three saves.
For the Warriors, Melissa Clapsaddle led the way with four goals. Julianna Kranes scored three goals. Torie Eggers and Shaylagh Devlin each added a goal in the loss.
DC jumped ahead early over the Warriors by scoring the first three goals of the game. Nyack got on the board with back to back goals. The Warriors scored four straight goals to end the first half with a 7-6 lead over the Lady Chargers.
The Lady Chargers used a huge second half to down the Warriors with 13 goals and held Nyack to just two. DC regained the lead with four straight goals to open the second half. The Lady Chargers finished the game on a six-goal run to break away and secure the win.
DC will be back in action this Friday, April 12th when they host Georgian Court University at 6:00 PM.
