Freshman Elizabeth Hixson (Smithfield, Utah) secured the match for the Lady Chargers when she won her singles match by the scores of 7-5 and 6-4 to give DC the 4-2 lead.
AIC singles player Meri Jimeno-Vincente defeated Paula Gutierrez (Bogota, Columbia) in the last match of the day for the final 4-3 score.
The Yellow Jackets took two out of three double matches but had to forfeit a singles to see the score tied, 1-1. Freshman Joana Ndunduma (Cedar Hill Texas) put the Lady Chargers ahead 2-1 after winning her singles match, 6-0 and 6-0.
Mikaela Johnson of AIC re-tied the match with her win at second singles, but freshman Nora Frederick (Dover, Del.) won her third singles match, 6-1 and 6-0 to take a 3-2 lead.
Hixson brought home her intense singles match to give the women's tennis program their first-ever victory.
Dominican returns to the courts tomorrow as they open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play when they host Holy Family University.
