VOLLEYBALL SUFFERS 3-1 SETBACK TO FELICIAN UNIVERSITY

(9/27/17) The Dominican College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback (14-25, 25-15, 23-25, 19.25) to the visiting Golden Falcons of Felician University this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division battle played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

(9/27/17) The Dominican College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback (14-25, 25-15, 23-25, 19.25) to the visiting Golden Falcons of Felician University this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division battle played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
Dominican (0-14, 0-5 CACC) led 13-11 in the second set when the team went on a 5-1 run, highlighted by four consecutive Lady Charger kills and two of them from sophomore Gabrielle Napoleon (Springfield, Pa.), to increase the lead to 18-12 en route to their first set victory of the season, 25-15. The team also posted a .269 attack percentage for the set with nine kills.
Set three came down to the wire as both teams had leads, but couldn't pull away. The set was tied at 23-all when a kill and an attack error gave Felician the 25-23 win.
The final set saw DC down 5-1, but rally with five unanswered points, four of them coming off serves by junior Natalia Perez (Prosper, Texas), to take a 6-5 edge. The set was later tied 19-all, but Felician went on a 6-0 closing run for the 25-19 win and 3-1 match victory.
Napoleon finished with a season high 11 kills, three block solos, four digs and a .200 attack percentage.
Sophomore Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) contributed 10 kills and a nigh best 18 digs.
Setter Essence Boyd (Peekskill, N.Y.) posted a career high 22 digs, while Perez finished with 14 digs and Malia Robinson (Jersey City, N.J.) had 13 digs, four block assists and four kills.
DC will travel to Goldey-Beacom College this coming Saturday.
