Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/25/17) Still in search of their first win of the season, the Lady Chargers volleyball team hosted Nyack College on Wednesday. A good start was key to have a successful match against their rival. As the season is quickly coming to an end, Dominican is just looking to continue giving a solid effort in every match until the end of the season.
Dominican has been having a tough time staying consistent through every set night in and night out. This match was no different as Dominican got the strong start they needed by winning a back and forth first set. The set was close with both teams neck and neck with the Warriors highest lead being five. The Warriors were one point away from securing the win, but the Lady Chargers scored three straight points to steal the first set. Dominican gave a great effort in the first set and were in good position to start the second set. The Warriors started the second set on a 6-0 run and never looked back for a 25-15 win. The Warriors controlled the rest of the match winning the next two sets and improve to 11-17 (9-5 CACC) on the season. The Lady Chargers drop to 0-24 (0-14 CACC) on the season and are still in search of their first win of the season.
Even though the result of the match was not what the Lady Chargers had in mind, there were a couple nice performances on the night. Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, NY) led the team in points with 12 and recorded 11 kills along with 9 digs. Teammate Essence Boyd (Peekskill, NY) recorded a team high 20 assists and also added 5 digs.
