Philadelphia, Pa. (9/15/18) The University of the Sciences women's volleyball team upended the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 3-2 (13-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 9-15) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played in Bobby Morgan Arena.
Philadelphia, Pa. (9/15/18) The University of the Sciences women's volleyball team upended the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 3-2 (13-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 9-15) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played in Bobby Morgan Arena.
Set One: The Devils took a commanding 8-0 advantage in the first set en route to the 25-13 win.
Set Two: The set was tied at 10-10 when Dominican went on a 9-4 run, started by three service points from freshman Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.). Later a LaPier kill led DC to a 25-23 vicotry and tie the match at 1-1.
Set Three: A 7-0 tear during the course of the set lifted USciences to a 25-18 win.
Set Four: Dominican used a 10-2 run to pull away from an 8-8 tie to give DC an 18-10 advantage en route to a 25-22 set win and force the decisive fifth set. Dominican tallied 14 kills and a .294 attack percentage for the set.
Set Five: The set was tied at 7-all when five straight Devil points put them ahead 12-7 and they went on to the 15-9 win and 3-2 match victory.
LaPier led Dominican with 12 kills and added nine digs.
Junior Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) contributed 10 kills and 15 digs, while libero Natalia Perez (Prosper, Texas) recorded a match high 27 digs.
Lily Ainsworth (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had a team high 34 assists and 13 digs in the loss.
Dominican (1-10, 1-3 CACC) will host Concordia College this coming Wednesday night at 7pm on Coach Baxter Court.
