With the win Dominican improves to 2-3 on the season, while the Setters fall to 1-3 on the season.
Pace opened the scoring with a home run in the first inning for the early lead, but Dominican put two runs across the plate in the fourth inning on the two out two-run single to right field off the bat of left fielder Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) to go ahead 2-1.
DC added three rusn in the both as both Tyler Patterson (East Meadow, N.Y.) and Kennee Torres (Yonkers, N.Y.) stole home, while third basemen Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) delivered a run-scoring single to left field to increase the lead to 5-2.
Ahead 5-3 heading into the top of the seventh, a gound out allowed Tyler Richman (Sunrise, Fla.) to score and the Chargers scored two more runs in the eighth on an RBI double to right field by Torres and a RBI sacrifice fly ball to right field by Antonio Pena (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to make the score 8-4.
A Hewlette solo home run to left field in the ninth gave the Chargers their final run of the game and secured the 9-4 win.
Reliever Oscarli Cruz (Haverstraw, N.Y.) picked up the win in three and 1/3 innings of work, allowing one run on one hit and three strikeouts.
The Chargers return to Finnerty Field tomorrow to face the Setters in a non-conference double-header slated to begin at noon.
