Pomona, N.Y. (4/18/22) The Dominican College baseball team dropped both games in a conference doubleheader to the Devils of the University of the Sciences.
The Devils defeated the Chargers 9-0 in game one and completed the sweep with a 12-3 win in game two.
The Chargers now hold a record of 11-25 (8-9 CACC) on the season.
Game One: Sciences scored all nine runs of the game in the first two innings. Eddie Parry finished with three RBIs to lead the Devils. Parry drove in the first run of the game in the first inning and added a two-RBI double in the second inning.
Hunter Parish added a two-RBI single while Evan Sinclair, Adam Estrada, and Chris Anderson each added one RBI.
Justin Derk recorded the win on the mound for Sciences to improve his record to 4-3. Derk recorded five strikeouts over seven innings pitched.
Ethan Sarmiento (Warwick, N.Y.) led DC with two hits including a double. Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) and Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) each added one hit.
Game Two: The Devils completed the sweep with a 12-3 win in game two.
The Devils opened up a 3-0 lead in the first inning after a solo homer by Joe Duffy and an RBI-single by Evan Sinclair.
DC scored their first run of the game on an RBI-single by Benjamin Avila (Walden, N.Y.). Sciences extended their lead to 6-1 in the second inning.
The Chargers cut the deficit to 6-3 in the third inning after an RBI-single by Sarmiento and an RBI-walk by Chidsey.
The Devils added four runs in the fourth inning and one run each in the sixth and seventh innings to finish off the sweep.
Evan Sinclair and Hunter Parish each homered in the win. Sinclair finished with a team-high four RBIs. Parish added two RBIs. Frank Pollock went 4-5 including a double and three RBIs.
DC was led by Sarmiento who finished with three hits and one RBI. Avila added one hit, scored one run, and drove in one RBI. Tyler Patterson (East Meadow, N.Y.) added a double.
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they host Bloomfield College on Tuesday, April 19th at Clover Stadium at 3:30 PM.
