BASEBALL EDGED BY STAC IN 10 INNINGS

The comeback effort fell short for Dominican as the Spartans edged the Chargers in ten innings.
The Chargers finished the game with nine total hits. Darian Almonte (Orangeburg, N.Y.) finished going 2-4 and scored one run. Bobby Garbuio (Chappaqua, N.Y.) went 2-5 with an RBI and scored one run.
Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) added a double and drove in a team-high three RBIs. Ethan Sarmiento (Warwick, N.Y.) and Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) each added a double and Hewlette added two RBIs.
For STAC, six different players had a multi-hit game. Matthew Johnson and Sean Lynch each had two hits including a double. Andrew Jemison, Andrew Guerra, Kyle Lagrutta, and David Potenza all finished with two hits.
STAC got off to a quick start by scoring four runs over the first two innings. DC was scoreless through the first five innings but rallied in the top of the sixth inning by scoring all six runs in the inning and took the lead.
A bases-loaded three-RBI double by Richard Paulino got the Chargers on the board. Paulino later scored on an RBI-single by Garbuio which tied the game. Hewlette later doubled in two runs which gave DC the lead and capped off the six-run inning.
The Spartans tied the game in the seventh inning after Eric Volpi cut the DC lead to 6-5 with a sac fly and later the tying run scored on an error.
The game remained tied until the 10th inning when Sean Lynch hit a game winning RBI-double to give STAC the 7-6 win.
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they visit the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, April 27th for a non-conference game. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM.
