58 STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO 2023 CACC BASEBALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
New Haven, Conn. (5/24/23) Fifty-eight (58) student-athletes on Wednesday were named to the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. All 11 CACC schools that compete in the sport were represented on the All-Academic Team.

New Haven, Conn. (5/24/23) Fifty-eight (58) student-athletes on Wednesday were named to the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. All 11 CACC schools that compete in the sport were represented on the All-Academic Team.
Dominican University New York had four players named to the team. Jason Sosa-Rivas (Yonkers, N.Y.), Brendan Turton (Westbury, N.Y.), Stefano Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) were all named to the team for the second time, while Maverick Medina (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) earns his first All-Academic accolades.
CACC post-season participant Thomas Jefferson University led the way with 11 honorees, while Chestnut Hill College and University of Bridgeport followed in second and third place, respectively. The Griffins had nine student-athletes earn the honor, while UB had eight.
The six teams to make the postseason in the CACC combined to have 28 student-athletes make the academic squad and included Jefferson (11), Bloomfield College (1), Felician University (1), Goldey-Beacom College (6), Post University (6) and Wilmington University (3). Fourteen (14) of the 28 competitors were named to the Academic Team for at least the second time in their respective careers.
NOTES ON ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
♦ Three student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point averages (UB's Justin Hafele, Post's Matt Goehrig and Jacob Tamburrino).
♦ Goehrig made the CACC All-Academic Team for the fifth time in his career, while Tamburrino made it for the fourth time.
♦ Eight student-athletes notched GPAs of 3.90 or higher.
♦ Eight were named to the CACC Baseball All-Academic Team for the third time in their respective careers.
♦ Thirteen (13) were named to the unit for the second time in their respective careers.
To be eligible for CACC All-Academic status, a student-athlete must: a) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of immediate preceding term (may include summer for fall sport participants); b) Minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) Student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution.
